Didacta Italia, the Italian edition of Didacta International, which has been held in Germany for over 60 years, is the annual event that, since 2017, has been transforming Florence for three days into the European capital of the school of the future, offering:

• A meeting point for all its stakeholders: schools, companies, institutions, associations, teachers, school leaders, and education professionals;

• Exhibition areas dedicated to companies and the latest developments in the education sector;

Fortezza da Basso

The Fortezza da Basso is the only Italian exhibition center located within a true Renaissance architectural masterpiece.

Right in the heart of Florence, just a 5-minute walk from the main train station, it offers a perfect logistical position with accommodation and parking options.

It is well connected by public transport, including the T1 and T2 tram lines, buses, and taxis.

HOW TO REACH DIDACTA ITALIA

BY CAR 

The Fortezza da Basso, the event venue, is located in the center of Florence.

From the A1 (Milan–Rome) or A11 (Pisa–Florence) highways:

EXIT: Firenze Nord or Firenze Sud

Follow the signs for “City Center” and “Fortezza da Basso.”

The Fortezza da Basso is not located in a restricted traffic zone (ZTL), but it is in its immediate vicinity.

LEAVE YOUR CAR, TAKE THE TRAM. MAKE A SUSTAINABLE CHOICE!
SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY 

The event venue, the Fortezza da Basso, is in the heart of Florence, just a few steps from the Duomo and the central Santa Maria Novella train station. Florence is a walking-distance city, where all main attractions can be reached on foot from the Fortezza da Basso.

The fair can also be reached by tram and other public transport that connect the city center to the outskirts, or you can rent a bike or scooter and use the city’s bike-sharing service.

When arriving from the highway, you can reduce travel time and urban pollution by taking the tram and leaving your car at the “Drive and Tramway” parking lot at the Villa Costanza exit (A1) or at the Viale Guidoni parking (A11).

In front of the Fortezza da Basso, there are stops for the T1 and T2 tram lines, which allow easy access to various areas of the city.

 

VILLA COSTANZA PARKING AREA

Villa Costanza is a park-and-ride facility for car-to-tram transfers. It is directly accessible from the A1 highway via the dedicated “Villa Costanza” exit between Scandicci and Impruneta, in both north and south directions.  Park your car and access the terminal of line T1 of the tramway to Careggi Hospital.

T2 GUIDONI PARKING

If you are arriving via the A11 highway, you can leave your car at the Guidoni park-and-ride, located on Viale XI Agosto. From here, you can easily reach Florence city center and the Fortezza da Basso via the T2 tram line or by bus line 23

BY TRAIN 

The Santa Maria Novella central railway station is only a 2-minute walk from the main entrance of the Fortezza da Basso.
The other railway stations in the city – Firenze Rifredi and Firenze Campo di Marte – are located ten minutes away from the S.M. Novella station, and they are well connected to it thanks to local trains and buses.

BY PLANE 

Florence International Airport (FLR) is 4 km from the city center and is easily reachable via the T2 tram line toward San Marco Università – Stop: Fortezza Fiere e Congressi.

Pisa International Airport (PSA) is 80 km from Florence city center and is connected to the Tuscan capital by train (hourly departures) and direct buses from the airport to Florence.
