Banca d’Italia is the Italian central bank; it is a public law institution regulated by national and European legislation. It is part of the Eurosystem together with the European Central Bank and the other central banks of the euro area. The main task of Banca d’Italia is to safeguard the value of the euro and ensure a safe and efficient financial system.
Banca d’Italia supervises banks and financial intermediaries to promote the stability of the financial system, carries out analyses and publishes data on banking and financial matters. It provides services to citizens, such as processing government receipts and payments and granting access to the Central Credit Register.
To protect customers of banks and financial intermediaries, Banca d’Italia promotes transparency and fairness in customer relations and offers initiatives to increase the population’s economic and financial literacy. Among its various financial education initiatives, it offers programmes for schools, Centres for Adult Education, and School-to-Work Transition programmes.
Banca d’Italia is developing MUDEM - Money Museum, which will guide families and schools in discovering money and finance through immersive experiences. While awaiting the opening of the museum space, MUDEM offers virtual and traveling exhibitions, educational activities, and resources dedicated to students and teachers.
IVASS (Institute for the Supervision of Insurance) is the authority that ensures the protection of policyholders by supervising insurance companies and intermediaries. IVASS protects consumers and provides assistance through insurance education initiatives, the Insurance Ombudsman, and the handling of complaints. IVASS communicates its activities through its Annual Report and other publications available on its website and social media channels.
