The Dialogical Schools Network

The DialogicaMente National Network, founded in 2021, is a growing educational movement that now includes 160 schools throughout Italy. Under the scientific direction of Professor Marco Braghero, the Network promotes a paradigm shift: overcoming the logic of control and fear to one of shared responsibility and understanding. The central objective is to regenerate the educational alliance between schools, students, families, and the community as a source of collective well-being. National coordination is entrusted to the Ferrara High School in Palermo, the lead school, directed by Principal Ilaria Virciglio. In Sicily, the Manzoni High School in Ravanusa, the regional leader of the Network, led by Marilena Giglia, serves as an innovation laboratory through the three-year "Dialogando" project. In collaboration with the Regional School Office (USR) and thanks to regional funding, 122 Sicilian schools are applying the dialogic approach to combat school dropout and critical phenomena such as nomophobia and the isolation of Hikikomori. The method transforms the principles of Open Dialogue into daily actions through specific tools that address the emotional and relational dimension:

Reflective Dialogues and Polyphony: Creating safe spaces where every voice, especially that of the most vulnerable, is heard without hierarchies to build shared meaning.
Mindfulness and: Training programs (DPC&M) for teachers and students aimed at developing deep listening and emotional intelligence.
Time-out (Slowing Down): The practice of slowing down the pace of meetings to encourage the suspension of judgment and "tolerance of uncertainty," allowing shared solutions to emerge naturally.
Through the co-construction of shared educational co-responsibility pacts and Community Educational Pacts, the Network transforms the school into a widespread educational ecosystem, where dialogue is not just a technique, but a way of experiencing community.
