The FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano (Italian National Trust) is a non-profit foundation established in 1975, inspired by the model of the National Trust, with the mission of protecting and enhancing Italy’s historical, artistic, and landscape heritage.
The FAI – Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano, with the contribution of everyone:
CARES for special places in Italy for present and future generations
EDUCATES people to love, understand, care for, and enjoy the environment, the landscape, and the Nation’s historical and artistic heritage
MONITORS the protection of environmental, landscape, and cultural assets in the spirit of Article 9 of the Constitution and in the general interest, according to the principle of subsidiarity (Article 118).
The world of education is a natural partner for FAI, which every year offers teachers and students educational programs aligned with ministerial guidelines.
These projects are designed for schools of all levels in order to engage every student—ranging from preschool children to high school students—through a variety of tailored activities. Together with their teachers, they are invited to experience the heritage of history, art, and nature through a shared and formative journey.
FAI’s goal is to foster the spirit of active citizenship, encouraging young people not simply to regard heritage as a subject to be studied, but to take part personally in its discovery and protection.
